Match Deposit Bonuses: How the Maths Works

Match deposit bonuses explained: how percentages and caps work, deposit plus bonus vs bonus-only wagering, expected value tables and offers compared.

A match deposit bonus adds a percentage of your deposit as bonus money, up to a cap: a 100% match up to EUR 500 turns a EUR 100 deposit into EUR 200 of play. The match itself is simple arithmetic; the value is decided by the wagering multiple and, above all, its base. “35x the bonus” and “35x deposit plus bonus” differ by a factor of two on a 100% match and by a factor of three on a 50% match. This page compares the match stages at the casinos we list, from the operators’ terms read on 7 and 8 October 2026, and works through the maths for different match percentages and deposit sizes.

How we ranked these match offers

We read each casino’s bonus page, general bonus terms and general terms, and checked each licence on the regulator’s register or validator. Ranking follows the scoring published in how we rate casinos, and our editorial policy keeps commercial deals out of the order; for match bonuses the deciding factors are the wagering base and multiple, the deadline, the maximum bet and the conversion cap. Slot Pony and Spin Sweet (Elmst Limited), Taste Vegas (Elvel Limited) and Quickz (Ludaro Limited) hold Malta Gaming Authority licences. Goldroll is licensed in Anjouan through Hundise Limited.

How a match works

The bonus equals the deposit multiplied by the match percentage, until it reaches the cap. Anything you deposit above the level that reaches the cap earns nothing extra.

Offer EUR 20 deposit EUR 100 deposit EUR 500 deposit Deposit that reaches the cap
50% up to EUR 500 EUR 10 EUR 50 EUR 250 EUR 1,000
100% up to EUR 100 EUR 20 EUR 100 EUR 100 EUR 100
100% up to EUR 500 EUR 20 EUR 100 EUR 500 EUR 500
150% up to EUR 1,200 EUR 30 EUR 150 EUR 750 EUR 800
200% up to EUR 200 EUR 40 EUR 200 EUR 200 EUR 100

The last row is a useful warning: a 200% match with a low cap gives the same bonus as a 100% match for any deposit above EUR 200, and less than a 100% match with a higher cap. The percentage only tells you the rate up to the cap.

Types of match deposit bonuses

First-deposit match

The classic welcome match, usually 100%. All five casinos in our list start with one, from 100% up to EUR 100 at Goldroll to 100% up to EUR 500 at Slot Pony, Taste Vegas and Quickz.

Multi-deposit packages

Several matches spread over a series of deposits, often with free-spin stages in between. Headlines add the stages together, which is how a package reaches “up to EUR 1,500”.

Reload bonuses

Matches for existing players, weekly or on set days, usually at a lower percentage than the welcome match. Their terms are set per promotion.

High-percentage, low-cap matches

Offers such as 200% or 300% on small deposits. They suit small budgets but not large ones, because the cap arrives quickly.

Percentage packages such as “400%”

Big percentages are often a sum of stages. A five-deposit package of 100%, 100%, 50%, 50% and 100% can be advertised as 400%, although no single deposit is matched at more than 100%. Look for the per-stage table in the terms before comparing.

Sticky and non-sticky matches

With a non-sticky match you play your own money first and can usually forfeit the bonus to withdraw early winnings. With a sticky match the balances are combined and nothing is withdrawable until wagering is complete. The terms rarely use these words; look for the order in which balances are used.

Match stages at the casinos we list

Casino Match stages Wagering Base Max bet Deadline Conversion cap
Slot Pony 1st: 100% to EUR 500; 3rd and 5th: 50% to EUR 500 35x, then 30x Deposit + bonus EUR 5 48 hours 5x bonus
Taste Vegas 1st, 3rd and 5th: 100% to EUR 500 45x, then 35x Deposit + bonus EUR 5 48 hours 5x bonus
Quickz 1st: 100% to EUR 500; 3rd: 100% to EUR 300; 5th: 100% to EUR 350 40x Deposit + bonus EUR 5 48 hours 5x bonus
Spin Sweet 1st: 100% to EUR 250; 3rd: 50% to EUR 250; 5th: 50% to EUR 500 40x Deposit + bonus EUR 5 (general terms) 48 hours 5x bonus
Goldroll 1st, 3rd and 5th: 100% to EUR 100 25x Deposit + bonus EUR 5 48 hours 5x bonus

All five casinos apply wagering to deposit plus bonus. None of them uses a bonus-only base as of October 2026, where the multiple applies to the bonus amount alone; at the same multiple, that would halve the wagering total on a 100% match. If you find a bonus-only offer elsewhere, convert it with the table below before comparing.

The free-spin stages between these matches are covered on our free spins bonuses page, and the whole packages on our welcome bonuses page.

The first match at each casino in euros

The table converts each first-stage match into the amounts that matter, for a small deposit, a medium one and the deposit that reaches the cap. Average cost assumes a 96% RTP slot.

Casino Deposit Bonus Wagering total Average cost Most the bonus can convert to
Goldroll (25x d+b) EUR 20 / 100 EUR 20 / 100 EUR 1,000 / 5,000 EUR 40 / 200 EUR 100 / 500
Slot Pony (35x d+b) EUR 20 / 100 / 500 EUR 20 / 100 / 500 EUR 1,400 / 7,000 / 35,000 EUR 56 / 280 / 1,400 EUR 100 / 500 / 2,500
Spin Sweet (40x d+b) EUR 20 / 100 / 250 EUR 20 / 100 / 250 EUR 1,600 / 8,000 / 20,000 EUR 64 / 320 / 800 EUR 100 / 500 / 1,250
Quickz (40x d+b) EUR 20 / 100 / 500 EUR 20 / 100 / 500 EUR 1,600 / 8,000 / 40,000 EUR 64 / 320 / 1,600 EUR 100 / 500 / 2,500
Taste Vegas (45x d+b) EUR 20 / 100 / 500 EUR 20 / 100 / 500 EUR 1,800 / 9,000 / 45,000 EUR 72 / 360 / 1,800 EUR 100 / 500 / 2,500

The minimum EUR 20 deposit keeps every requirement under EUR 2,000 of play, which is the only size at which most people can finish inside 48 hours. At the cap, the requirements run from EUR 20,000 to EUR 45,000, numbers that suit only very high-volume slot players. If you are in that group, read our page on high roller bonuses for the withdrawal and bet limits that come with large balances.

Later match stages

The third and fifth deposits in these packages carry further matches. They behave like reload bonuses and deserve the same scrutiny, because a 50% stage with deposit-plus-bonus wagering is heavier per euro of bonus than the first match.

Stage Deposit for the maximum Bonus Wagering total Equivalent multiple of the bonus
Slot Pony 3rd or 5th: 50% to EUR 500, 30x d+b EUR 1,000 EUR 500 EUR 45,000 90x
Taste Vegas 3rd or 5th: 100% to EUR 500, 35x d+b EUR 500 EUR 500 EUR 35,000 70x
Quickz 3rd: 100% to EUR 300, 40x d+b EUR 300 EUR 300 EUR 24,000 80x
Quickz 5th: 100% to EUR 350, 40x d+b EUR 350 EUR 350 EUR 28,000 80x
Spin Sweet 5th: 50% to EUR 500, 40x d+b EUR 1,000 EUR 500 EUR 60,000 120x
Goldroll 3rd or 5th: 100% to EUR 100, 25x d+b EUR 100 EUR 100 EUR 5,000 50x

At Quickz these stages are opt-in, so skipping them is as simple as not selecting them before the deposit. Elsewhere, check the cashier for an option to decline before you pay; once a bonus is credited, removing it usually also removes any winnings made with it.

The wagering base changes everything

When wagering applies to deposit plus bonus, a lower match percentage makes the requirement heavier relative to the bonus, because the deposit part of the base does not shrink. Expressing every offer as a multiple of the bonus alone makes them comparable.

Match Stated wagering Base for a EUR 100 deposit Wagering total Equivalent multiple of the bonus
50% 30x deposit + bonus EUR 150 EUR 4,500 90x the EUR 50 bonus
100% 25x deposit + bonus EUR 200 EUR 5,000 50x the EUR 100 bonus
100% 35x deposit + bonus EUR 200 EUR 7,000 70x the EUR 100 bonus
100% 45x deposit + bonus EUR 200 EUR 9,000 90x the EUR 100 bonus
100% 35x bonus only EUR 100 EUR 3,500 35x the EUR 100 bonus
200% 35x deposit + bonus EUR 300 EUR 10,500 52.5x the EUR 200 bonus

Seen this way, a 50% match at 30x deposit plus bonus, as on Slot Pony’s third and fifth stages, is as heavy per euro of bonus as a 100% match at 45x. Comparing headline multiples without the base gives the wrong answer.

Expected value of a match bonus

A rough guide to what a match is worth on average: the bonus, minus the expected cost of the wagering. The expected cost is the house edge of the games you play multiplied by the wagering total. On a slot with a 96% RTP the edge is 4%. The formula ignores the conversion cap and the chance of busting before wagering ends, both of which reduce real value further.

Offer on a EUR 100 deposit Bonus Wagering total Expected cost at 4% edge Expected value of the bonus
100%, 10x bonus only (UK maximum) EUR 100 EUR 1,000 EUR 40 +EUR 60
100%, 35x bonus only EUR 100 EUR 3,500 EUR 140 -EUR 40
100%, 25x deposit + bonus EUR 100 EUR 5,000 EUR 200 -EUR 100
100%, 35x deposit + bonus EUR 100 EUR 7,000 EUR 280 -EUR 180
100%, 40x deposit + bonus EUR 100 EUR 8,000 EUR 320 -EUR 220
100%, 45x deposit + bonus EUR 100 EUR 9,000 EUR 360 -EUR 260

A negative figure does not mean you will lose that exact amount; it means that on average the requirement costs more than the bonus adds. Most attempts at a heavy requirement end with the balance at zero, while a few hit an early win and finish ahead, often up to the conversion cap. The break-even multiple at a 4% edge is 25 times the bonus: below it, a bonus-only requirement has positive average value; above it, it does not.

Where the conversion cap comes in

The cap trims the good outcomes, never the bad ones. Take a EUR 20 deposit at Slot Pony: EUR 20 bonus, EUR 1,400 to wager, average cost EUR 56. If an early feature lifts the balance to EUR 300 and you complete the wagering with EUR 250 left, the bonus part can convert to at most EUR 100, five times the bonus. Losing runs, on the other hand, are not capped at all. The real average value of a capped bonus is therefore a little lower than the simple formula suggests, and the gap grows with volatility. For small deposits the effect is modest; for players hoping a big win will carry them through a large requirement, it is the term that matters most.

A lower RTP makes it worse

Many slots run below 96%. At a 94% RTP the edge is 6%, and EUR 7,000 of wagering costs EUR 420 on average instead of EUR 280. Check the RTP shown in each game’s information panel; studios often provide several settings and the casino chooses which one to run.

Game weighting, maximum bet and deadline

Three more terms decide whether a match is realistic. Live casino and RNG table games count 0% at Slot Pony, Taste Vegas, Quickz and Spin Sweet, so the requirement has to be met on slots. Bets are capped at EUR 5 while the bonus is active at all five casinos, so EUR 7,000 of wagering takes at least 1,400 spins. And the four MGA casinos and Goldroll give 48 hours to finish, which at one spin every four seconds is more than an hour and a half of continuous play at the maximum stake, or close to eight hours at EUR 1 a spin.

Wagering total Spins at EUR 5 Spins at EUR 1 Hours at EUR 1 (one spin every 4 seconds)
EUR 1,400 (EUR 20 deposit, 35x deposit + bonus) 280 1,400 about 1.6
EUR 5,000 1,000 5,000 about 5.6
EUR 7,000 1,400 7,000 about 7.8
EUR 9,000 1,800 9,000 about 10

That is why a small first deposit is the sensible way to take a match at these casinos. EUR 20 at 35x deposit plus bonus is EUR 1,400 of wagering, which is achievable in an evening at low stakes; EUR 500 is EUR 35,000, which is not achievable in 48 hours for most people.

Conversion caps

At the four MGA casinos and Goldroll, bonus funds convert to cash only up to five times the bonus. A EUR 20 bonus can become at most EUR 100; a EUR 500 bonus at most EUR 2,500. Other casinos use a fixed cap instead, such as a maximum win from bonus funds of EUR 2,000. A cap matters most on high-volatility slots, where a large win early in the wagering can easily exceed it.

How your balance is used while wagering

During wagering the casino tracks two amounts: your real-money balance and your bonus balance. Which one each bet comes from, and what happens to winnings, is set in the bonus terms. In a non-sticky set-up, real money is used first and the bonus only starts working once it runs out; in a sticky one, everything is locked together. Either way, requesting a withdrawal before the requirement is complete normally forfeits the bonus and the winnings attributed to it.

Two related rules apply at the MGA casinos and Goldroll even when you play without a bonus. Deposits must be wagered once before they can be withdrawn, and an unplayed deposit can be refunded only with a 5% fee, minimum EUR 10. Withdrawals are limited to EUR 5,000 per rolling 24 hours and EUR 20,000 per rolling 30 days at the MGA casinos, according to their terms.

Volatility and the chance of finishing

The expected-value tables tell you the average; volatility tells you the shape. On a low-volatility slot, the balance tends to shrink slowly, so you are more likely to reach the end of the requirement, usually with less than you started with. On a high-volatility slot, most attempts run out of money early, and a few produce a large win. Because conversion is capped at five times the bonus at most casinos here, the upside of a high-volatility run is limited while the downside is not. For clearing a match, a medium-volatility slot with a high RTP setting is usually the most sensible choice, provided it counts 100% and is not on the excluded list. Our guide to online slots explains volatility and RTP settings in more detail.

Match bonuses compared with other offers

Offer What you get Main cost Best for
Match bonus Bonus money in proportion to the deposit Wagering, max bet, deadline, conversion cap Low-stakes slot players with time to play
Wager-free free spins Spins whose winnings are cash The deposit that unlocks them; a cap per stage Most slot players
Cashback A share of net losses returned Nothing on winning periods; check whether paid as cash Regular players, including higher stakes
No-deposit bonus Small spins or cash at sign-up Low cashout cap, wagering, full checks Trying a casino; none on our list now
No bonus Your own money only None of the bonus restrictions Live and table players, high stakes, quick withdrawals

For the no-deposit kind, see our guide to no deposit bonuses.

Mistakes that cost match-bonus value

  • Depositing to reach the cap rather than an amount you can wager in time.
  • Comparing multiples without checking the base.
  • Playing live or table games that count 0%, then finding the counter has not moved.
  • Staking above the maximum bet, even on one spin.
  • Using an e-wallet for the qualifying deposit.
  • Leaving a later stage switched on by accident and locking a new deposit behind fresh wagering.
  • Ignoring a conflict between two terms pages. Spin Sweet’s welcome page says EUR 10 maximum bet, its general bonus terms EUR 5; stay at EUR 5.

Payment methods and other conditions

  • Excluded methods. Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard deposits do not qualify for the match at Slot Pony, Taste Vegas, Quickz and Spin Sweet; Goldroll excludes e-wallet deposits too.
  • Opt-in and consent. Quickz activates its first match automatically and needs an opt-in for later stages; Taste Vegas bonuses are opt-in in the cashier; several casinos require marketing consent to receive bonuses.
  • Minimum deposit. EUR 20 per qualifying deposit at all five.
  • Country exclusions. The four MGA casinos exclude Finland from their welcome offers; Goldroll lists wider restrictions, including the UK, the US, the Netherlands and Germany.
  • Deposit turnover. Even without a bonus, deposits must be wagered once before withdrawal at the MGA casinos and Goldroll.

Crypto deposits and match bonuses

None of the five casinos listed here takes crypto. At casinos that do, a crypto deposit is usually converted into the account currency, so the bonus and the wagering counter are in euros, not coins. If the coin’s price changes between deposit and withdrawal, the euro value of your balance does not move, but the amount of coin you receive when you cash out does. Our guide to Bitcoin casinos covers wallets, network fees and the tax side of using crypto as a stake.

Why offshore matches look bigger than UK ones

Since 19 January 2026, UKGC licensees cannot set wagering above ten times the bonus amount. A UK match therefore has to be smaller or simpler to remain affordable for the operator, which is why many UK casinos switched to modest matches or to free spins with no wagering. Casinos licensed in Malta, Anjouan or elsewhere are not bound by that rule when they serve other countries, so they can advertise larger matches and recover the cost through 35x to 45x deposit-plus-bonus wagering, short deadlines and conversion caps. A bigger headline is therefore not evidence of a better deal; the equivalent multiple of the bonus, shown in the tables above, is the fairer comparison.

How we check match terms

This page is desk research. For each casino we read the bonus page, the general bonus terms and the general terms and conditions on 7 and 8 October 2026, and we recorded the match percentage, cap, multiple, base, deadline, maximum bet, conversion cap, excluded methods and excluded countries. Where two pages disagree we quote both and advise the stricter one. We did not deposit or play to test the offers, and we re-check them monthly.

Should you take the match or play without it?

Take the match if you play slots at low stakes, have time inside the deadline, and the requirement in euros is something you would have staked anyway. A small deposit at Goldroll’s 25x or Slot Pony’s 35x is the most realistic example in our list. Decline it if you want to stake more than EUR 5 a spin, play live or table games, might want to withdraw a win quickly, or would need to deposit more than you planned to reach the cap.

Playing without a bonus has no wagering, no maximum bet and no conversion cap. Combined with wager-free free-spin stages, it is often the better way to use these packages.

Codes and how to claim

  1. Confirm the casino accepts players from your country and the offer is not excluded there.
  2. Read the match stage terms: percentage, cap, wagering, base, deadline, maximum bet, conversion cap.
  3. Register and opt in where required. No code is needed for the match offers on this page as of October 2026.
  4. Deposit with a qualifying method. Consider a small first deposit to keep the requirement achievable.
  5. Play eligible slots at or below the maximum bet and keep an eye on the wagering counter.
  6. Verify your identity before requesting a withdrawal.

Match bonus rules in regulated markets

Licensed markets increasingly limit match bonuses. In Great Britain, wagering has been capped at 10 times the bonus since 19 January 2026, and offers may not combine casino with betting or other products. Denmark caps bonuses at DKK 1,000 with wagering of at most 10x and at least 60 days to meet it. Sweden allows a bonus only on the player’s first gaming occasion. None of these protections applies at offshore casinos.

UK players: these casinos are not for you

Only operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission may offer gambling to people in Great Britain, under the Gambling Act 2005 as extended to overseas operators by the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014. None of the casinos on this page holds a UKGC licence, and none of them is aimed at UK residents. GAMSTOP self-exclusion only covers UKGC-licensed sites, and UKGC protections such as the 10x cap on bonus wagering in force since 19 January 2026 do not apply offshore. If you live in Great Britain, choose a UKGC-licensed casino and check it on the Commission’s public register.

For licence and complaint checks before you deposit, see our guide to safe online casinos.

Play safely

A match bonus extends play time; it does not change the odds of any game. Gambling is for adults only: 18+ in most countries, and higher in some (21 for casinos licensed in Estonia, for example). Set a deposit limit before you claim anything, treat any bonus as entertainment rather than income, and stop if you are chasing losses. In the UK, the National Gambling Helpline run by GamCare is free on 0808 8020 133, around the clock; BeGambleAware and Gambling Therapy offer support in other countries. Our responsible gambling guide lists tools and helplines by country.

Frequently asked questions

What is a match deposit bonus?

A bonus worth a percentage of your deposit, up to a cap. A 100% match up to EUR 500 doubles a deposit of up to EUR 500; deposit EUR 100 and you receive EUR 100 in bonus money, which has to be wagered before it can be withdrawn.

Is a match deposit bonus a kind of welcome bonus?

Often, but not always. Most welcome offers start with a match on the first deposit, and many packages add more matches on later deposits. Reload bonuses for existing players are also match bonuses.

How do I get a match deposit bonus?

Register, opt in if the casino requires it, and deposit at least the minimum with a qualifying payment method. At the casinos on this page the minimum is EUR 20, and Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard deposits do not qualify at the Malta-licensed ones.

Is a casino offering more than a 100% bonus a scam?

Not necessarily, but check it carefully. Many ‘300%’ or ‘400%’ headlines add up the percentages of several deposits. A higher percentage often comes with a lower cap or heavier terms. Check the licence on the regulator’s register and read the wagering base, deadline and conversion cap.

Where do I get a code for a match bonus?

From the casino’s own promotions page or cashier. None of the match offers on this page needs a code as of October 2026. Codes from third-party sites are often expired or meant for other countries.

What does 35x deposit plus bonus mean?

You must bet 35 times the sum of your qualifying deposit and the bonus before the bonus turns into cash. On a EUR 100 deposit with a EUR 100 bonus, that is EUR 7,000 of bets.

Can I withdraw my deposit if I take a match bonus?

Usually not until the wagering is done or you forfeit the bonus. Forfeiting removes the bonus and its winnings; your remaining real-money balance can then be withdrawn under the casino’s normal rules.
