Hot Hot Fruit is a 5-reel, 3-row fruit slot from Habanero with 15 fixed paylines, released on 29 January 2019. Its hook is the Hot Hot feature, which turns sevens into triple sevens and other symbols into doubles at random, so one spin can show lines of up to 15 symbols. Habanero rates the game very high volatility, puts the maximum win at 5,087 times the stake and offers it in several RTP settings, from about 86% to 98%. That last point matters most: the same game can return very different amounts depending on the casino.
This review covers the rules as published by Habanero, the RTP versions, the free games maths and how to try the demo. Slots are for adults only, 18+.

How the game plays
The look is a classic fruit machine with neon lighting: sevens, BARs, plums, oranges, watermelons and other fruit, plus a Wild. Wins pay on 15 fixed lines. Habanero notes that Wilds and double Wilds pay nothing on their own and appear only on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5, so the centre reel never shows one. When Habanero launched the game, its spokesman Toni Karapetrov called it fast-paced and said it reminds players of a simpler time, and the base game is built around that idea: no cascading reels, no Megaways, just lines and one random modifier.
The Hot Hot feature
On any spin, the Hot Hot feature can trigger at random. Sevens can become triple sevens and every other symbol can become a double. A doubled symbol counts as two symbols of its kind on the line and a triple seven counts as three, which is why the paytable runs past five of a kind: up to 10 in a row for the doubled symbols and up to 15 in a row for sevens. SlotCatalog lists 15 sevens at about 1,666.67 times the bet and 10 BARs at 60 times the bet, with three BARs at roughly a third of the stake. The feature is the main reason the volatility is so high: ordinary spins pay modestly, while a reel set full of doubled symbols pays many times more.
Free games and locking symbols
Habanero sets the trigger as follows: 3 or more Wilds counted from left to right award 6 free games, and 3 or more Wilds counted from left to right and from right to left award 12 free games. During the round, every symbol that forms part of a winning combination locks in place for the remaining free games, with a maximum of 14 locked symbols. Each locked symbol raises the chance that later spins complete longer lines, and combined with doubles and triples this is where the 5,087x maximum is realistic. Habanero does not publish how often the free games trigger, so we cannot give a hit rate.
Jackpot Race
Habanero lists Jackpot Race as an available feature. It is an optional network promotion that the casino may switch on, so it will not appear in every lobby. If you are interested in pooled prizes in general, our guide to how progressive slots work explains the difference between network jackpots and fixed prizes.
RTP versions: why the casino matters
RTP (return to player) is the share of all stakes a slot pays back over a very large number of spins. Habanero offers Hot Hot Fruit in five settings, and SlotCatalog has recorded four exact values. The casino picks one, and nothing in the graphics tells you which you are playing. The gap is large, as this worked example at EUR 1 per spin shows.
| RTP version | House edge | Expected loss on EUR 1,000 staked (1,000 spins at EUR 1) |
|---|---|---|
| 98.05% | 1.95% | EUR 19.50 |
| 96.84% | 3.16% | EUR 31.60 |
| 93.96% | 6.04% | EUR 60.40 |
| 92.23% | 7.77% | EUR 77.70 |
These are long-run averages. With very high volatility, a single session of 1,000 spins can end far above or far below them. Still, the 92.23% version costs almost four times as much on average (EUR 77.70 against EUR 19.50) as the 98.05% version for the same play. To check, open the game help or information screen before you stake; many casinos display the RTP there. If it is not shown, ask support which version runs, and treat no answer as a reason to play elsewhere.
Bonus maths: Hot Hot Fruit with a wagering requirement
Very high volatility and a low RTP setting both work against bonus play. Take a common set of terms as an example: wagering of 35 times the bonus, with a maximum bet of EUR 5 while bonus funds are active. A EUR 100 bonus therefore needs EUR 3,500 of slot stakes before it can be withdrawn. On the 96.84% version the expected loss over that wagering is about EUR 111 (3.16% of EUR 3,500), already more than the bonus. On the 92.23% version it rises to about EUR 272. In both cases the bonus has negative expected value for this game, and the swings of a very high volatility slot mean many players will lose the balance before finishing. If you take a bonus, read the game contribution table and the RTP first; our welcome bonus guide shows how to run the same calculation for any offer, and the free spins guide covers spin offers, which usually lock you to a named game.
How to play the Hot Hot Fruit demo
- Open the game in demo mode at a casino that shows it, or from the studio where a demo is offered. Demo credits have no cash value.
- Set the stake. In the demo it changes nothing, but use the stake you would really play so the results mean something.
- Open the paytable and help screen. Note how doubled symbols and triple sevens count, and check the RTP figure if it is displayed.
- Play at least a few hundred spins and note how long you wait between the Hot Hot feature and the free games. A dry spell of 100 spins or more is normal on a very high volatility slot.
- Only then decide whether the real-money version fits your budget.
In Great Britain, licensed casinos have had to verify age before allowing free-to-play games since 7 May 2019, so you may need an account even for the demo.
Who Hot Hot Fruit suits, and who it does not
- Suits: players who like classic fruit symbols but want a modern hit potential, and who are comfortable with long losing runs between big features.
- Suits: players who check RTP versions and choose casinos that run the high settings.
- Not for: players clearing a bonus, as the maths above shows.
- Not for: anyone with a small budget who wants frequent small wins; a low-volatility slot fits that better.

If the fruit theme is the draw, the classic Novomatic line is the obvious comparison: games such as Sizzling Hot Deluxe keep the same sevens-and-fruit look with simpler rules, and our Novomatic studio page covers that range. Habanero has used the Hot Hot name on other titles too, such as Hot Hot Halloween. Real-money play: UK and US players
Only operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission may offer gambling to people in Great Britain (Gambling Act 2005), and GAMSTOP self-exclusion covers UKGC-licensed sites only. At UK-licensed casinos, online slots follow extra rules: since 31 October 2021 a spin must last at least 2.5 seconds and autoplay and turbo features are banned, since 9 April 2025 the maximum stake is GBP 5 per spin, and since 21 May 2025 it is GBP 2 for players aged 18 to 24. None of our partner casinos accepts players from the United States.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of Hot Hot Fruit?

How do you trigger free spins in Hot Hot Fruit?
According to Habanero, 3 or more Wilds counted from left to right award 6 free games, and 3 or more Wilds both left to right and right to left award 12. During the free games, symbols in winning combinations lock in place for the rest of the round, up to 14 symbols.
What is the Hot Hot feature?
It can occur at random on any spin. Sevens can turn into triple sevens and the other symbols into doubles, so a single position counts as two or three symbols. That allows lines of up to 15 sevens or 10 of the other symbols on a 5-reel game.
What is the maximum win on Hot Hot Fruit?
Habanero gives the maximum win as 5,087 times the stake. The top line prize listed by SlotCatalog is 15 sevens at about 1,666.67 times the bet.
Is Hot Hot Fruit high volatility?
Yes. Habanero rates it very high volatility, which means long dry spells are normal and most of the return comes from rare, large wins in the Hot Hot feature and the free games.
Can I play Hot Hot Fruit for free?
Yes. Habanero games have a demo mode with play credits, and some casinos show it before registration. Casinos licensed in Great Britain must verify your age before you can open their free-to-play games (since 7 May 2019).
