DragonSphere Slot by IGT: What Is Known, and Online Alternatives

DragonSphere by IGT: an Asian-themed slot on Ocean Magic mechanics with exploding wild spheres. What is verified, why no RTP is published, online options.

By 99 Casinos Editorial Team Fact-checked by Bruce Marshall Updated 5 min read

DragonSphere is an IGT slot built on the mechanics of IGT’s Ocean Magic, with an Asian theme of dragons, pandas and tigers. IGT’s own description highlights exploding wild spheres and stacked symbols in the base game and a free games bonus, and SlotCatalog lists a 5-reel, 4-row layout and a release date of 25 June 2018. What we could not verify is an online version: there is no public demo, no published RTP and no online casino we could find that carries it. This page sets out what is known, what is not, and the online alternatives.

We list no casino on this page. Slots are for adults only, 18+.

How the game plays

IGT describes DragonSphere as based on the proven performer Ocean Magic, with similar gameplay and enhanced graphics. In Ocean Magic, bubbles float across the reels and turn the symbols they touch wild, and a pick feature lets you pop bubbles to win free spins. In DragonSphere the equivalent element is the wild sphere: IGT says that exploding wild spheres, together with stacked symbols, create the big-win chances, so the spheres play the role the bubbles play in Ocean Magic. Stacked symbols, where one symbol fills several positions on a reel, raise the chance of wins across many lines at once. Both effects carry into the free games bonus.

The exact rules, such as how a sphere moves, how many positions an explosion covers and how the free games are triggered, are not in any public source we could find. IGT publishes such details in machine help screens and in PAR sheets for casino operators, which are not public documents.

Why there is no RTP

Land-based slot machines are usually supplied with several payback settings, and the casino picks one within the legal minimum of its jurisdiction. In New Jersey, for example, a slot must return at least 83% (N.J.A.C. 13:69E-1.28A). That is why two DragonSphere machines in different casinos can pay back different amounts, and why no single RTP figure can be quoted for the game. Online, the studio would publish the RTP of each version; for DragonSphere there is no online version to publish it for.

Is DragonSphere available online?

We could not find it. SlotCatalog lists the title with a note that its demo is unavailable and that a scan of 87 casinos in Malta found it at none of them. Our partner casinos do not carry it either. If you see “DragonSphere” offered online, check that it really is the IGT game, and check the operator’s licence on the regulator’s register before you deposit.

Online alternatives

The obvious alternative is Ocean Magic itself, which IGT does offer online. SlotCatalog lists the online version as a 5-reel, 4-row game with 50 lines, released on 26 April 2017, with an RTP of 92.18% and stakes from 0.50 to 150. That RTP is low for an online slot, which is worth knowing before you play it for money. For dragon and Asian themes with published maths, see our review of Cheng Gong by Eyecon (95.3% RTP), or browse the free slots hub. Our IGT studio page covers the studio’s online range, and the gaming software overview compares it with other studios.

Who DragonSphere suits

DragonSphere is a game for the casino floor: players who enjoy Ocean Magic’s floating wilds and want them in a dragon theme will find it there, where it is installed. It is not a game you can try in a demo or compare on published numbers. If verified maths matters to you, choose an online slot whose studio publishes the RTP; our slots guide explains what to look for.

Real-money play: UK and US players

Only operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission may offer gambling to people in Great Britain (Gambling Act 2005), and GAMSTOP self-exclusion covers UKGC-licensed sites only. At UK-licensed casinos, online slots follow extra rules: since 31 October 2021 a spin must last at least 2.5 seconds and autoplay and turbo features are banned, since 9 April 2025 the maximum stake is GBP 5 per spin, and since 21 May 2025 it is GBP 2 for players aged 18 to 24. None of our partner casinos accepts players from the United States.

Play safely

Slots are for adults only: 18+ (higher in some countries). They are fast, which makes it easy to spend more than planned, so set a deposit and time limit before you start, take breaks and never chase losses. If gambling stops being fun, contact the National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, on 0808 8020 133 in Great Britain, or Gambling Therapy (gamblingtherapy.org) for free support in other countries. Frequently asked questions

Who makes the DragonSphere slot?

DragonSphere is an IGT game. IGT describes it as based on its Ocean Magic video slot, with similar gameplay mechanics and new Asian-themed graphics.

Can you play DragonSphere online?

We could not confirm an online version. SlotCatalog lists the game but shows no demo, and found it at none of the 87 Malta-licensed casinos it scanned. It appears to be a land-based casino game.

What is the RTP of DragonSphere?

It has not been published. On land-based machines the payback is chosen by the casino from settings the manufacturer offers, within the legal minimum of each jurisdiction, so it can differ from one casino floor to the next.

How does DragonSphere work?

IGT’s description mentions exploding wild spheres and stacked symbols, in the base game and in a free games bonus. The mechanics follow Ocean Magic, where floating bubbles turn symbols wild.

What slots are similar to DragonSphere?

Ocean Magic, the IGT game it is based on, is the closest. It exists online too: SlotCatalog lists a 5×4, 50-line version released on 26 April 2017 with an RTP of 92.18%.
